Tracks tell stories

Walking the dogs in a field nearby, I noticed lots of animal tracks. Some went to and from a tiny piece of vegetation - the remains of a Queen Anne's Lace stalk, or a bean stalk? I wondered if it was a mouse, mole, bird or bunny that had been out looking for food?

Then I saw a whole lot of other tracks leading off into the distance and something that looked unusual - a collection of tracks mid-way.

As I drew closer I noticed that there were wing marks (below) in the snow. Did a coyote or fox come and grab a careless bird that was hunting for seeds? Or did an owl or hawk drop from the sky and grab a rabbit or mouse? Or, because some tracks lead back from the spot - did someone make an escape?

Always a story behind the tracks, but sometimes they are hard to unravel. Fun to speculate though! What tracks did you see today?
