So the sun is shining for the moment and it reminds me of other wintery mornings

Snow on the deck. A bunch of birds searches among the seeds for the tastiest, the one in the foreground - a goldfinch in full mating colour - is being completely ignored by Christopher who is watching from his seat in a warm room and behind the deck door. The dogs and the cats love to have good viewing spots, specially when it's freezing cold on delicate paws outside.

More gold finches waiting their turn at the deck.

Starlings I think on the wing, or maybe early redwings. These photos taken up in Beaver Valley six or more years ago.

Whose tracks are those, dragging a leash or a stick it looks like? Taken near our interim home near Harwood across from Rice Lake.
Mourning doves scavenging for the best seeds from an obviously over-filled set of feeders. Birds were plentiful with the house being situated so near the lake but with fields and a large forest plot behind.

And finally, sunset over Rice Lake. From the time I lived near Harwood just across from the lake, always beautiful though often not so colourful as this....such a peaceful image after the busy-ness of feeding birds. Do you enjoy bird watching? I find it fascinating and also meditative.
