Chickadee

There is something incredibly cheerful about the chickadees' little call. These tiny balls of energetic feathers are the brightest and bravest as far as I'm concerned.

There are at least a dozen, maybe more of them that hang about my yards with the gang of finches, nuthatches and juncoes, but they are always the first in the morning and the last ones I see except for the occasional cardinal, in the evening when I'm bringing in the feeders.

They are supposed to migrate northwards into the dense dark arboreal forests in spring, but several seem satisfied with the easy meals around this place and stick around throughout the year. Much to my great delight.

I hope you have a cheerful, bright day - just like the little dee-dees are doing here this morning.
